The Furiest Thanksgiving

The big barn loomed in front of us like a tower. The wood creaked, and theĀ  paint chipped. My cousin and I decided we would go in.

The door was stuck, but once we pulled in open, we went inside. The barn was much warmer than outside, and the room had a musty smell like an attic. To the left a wooden wall stood almost to the ceiling, In the center an old trailer with some rope and a pullie, but as we looked to the right a pair of eyes flashed out of the gloom from under a hay bale. “What is it?” my cousin asked. “I don’t know” I replied. Just then a cat stepped out and I could here my cousin give a sigh beside me. A little while later we found part of an old truck bed, hulled it back to the barn and built a fort for the cats, and ourselves. Since the forts edges were tucked with hay, and we found a suitable door, the fort was much warmer than the rest of the barn. We discovered that a least fifty to one hundred cats were living in the barn, and several of them came to the fort for warmth, and shelter.

As evening was approaching the rest of our family came out and proposed we play a giant game of hide and go seek. As my cousins brother counted we hid in the fort. We waited for a long while. Then we herd a snap out side. we peaked through a small hole and saw my cousins brother approaching. He was just about to uncover the door the fort when a cat appeared behind him. It meowed and ran down to the basement. As he followed it I gave a sigh of relief. We had won the game! We learned do unto others as you want them to do unto you, because we helped the cats by making them the fort, and they helped us win the game. I can’t wait until next year!
